Name: Calan
Date: Friday, 13th April 2018
Time: 20.00
Venue: Reeth Memorial Hall
Venue Postcode: DL11 6QT
Event Information: Calan bring together the remarkable talents of five young musicians giving a fresh and vibrant sound to traditional Welsh music. With a contemporary and lively approach they breathe new life into the old traditions through their sparkling melodies, foot tapping tunes and spirited and energetic performances of Welsh step dancing. They blast their way through some of the old favourite reels, jigs and hornpipes with fast paced and uplifting arrangements before melting into some of the most beautiful and haunting songs. Vocals in both Welsh and English combine with their unique instrumental blend of fiddles, whistles, guitar and bagpipes and a traditional reed instrument from Wales called a pibgorn made from a wooden pipe and the horns of a bull. Great fun, a sense of humour and step dancing from a champion dancer who dances in a style unique to Wales. ?
Doors open 7.30pm for an 8pm start. Tickets £13 (door £15) under 16s half price.

Name: Andy Irvine
Date: Saturday, 28th April 2018
Time: 20.00
Venue: Reeth Memorial Hall
Venue Postcode: DL11 6QT
Event Information: Andy Irvine is one of the great Irish singers, his voice one of a handful of truly great ones that gets to the very soul of Ireland. He has been hailed as "a tradition in himself". Musician (bouzouki, mandola and harmonica), singer songwriter, Andy has maintained his highly individual performing skills throughout his 45 year career. From Sweeney's Men in the mid 60s, to the enormous success of Planxty in the 70s and then from Patrick Street to Andy Irvine & Dónal Lunny's Mozaik, he has been a world music pioneer and an icon for traditional music and musicians. As a soloist, Andy fills the role of the archetypal troubadour with a show and a travelling lifestyle that reflect his lifelong influence, Woody Guthrie. To quote the Irish Times, "Often copied, never equalled", his repertoire consists of Irish traditional songs, dexterous Balkan dances and a compelling cannon of his own self-penned songs.
Doors open 7.30pm for an 8pm start. Tickets are £14 in advance (£16 on the door) under 16s half price
